GoDaddy: Don’t buy a .tv domain name, the Island’s Sinking!

If I’m reading the pop-up window correctly, domain registrar Godaddy recommends against purchasing .tv domain names because the island of Tuvalu, which the domain represents, is sinking.

WTF: The worst ad for a missile EVER!

Seriously. I’m going to buy a Rafael missile after watching this ad. But on the serious side, Rafael, an Israeli defense company, displayed this ad at Aero India 2009 at Bangalore, trying to increase their business in India. Did it work? Who knows.

Jetlev: Water powered Jetpack!

Looks Seriously fun to me. The jetpack employs a flexible hose / tether that gets paired with a separate vessel that houses the propulsion engine and other related systems. That apparently greatly improves the thrust to weight ratio compared to a standalone jetpack, and makes the system a good deal safer as a bonus. While it’s still undergoing tests, the company says it’ll be accepting orders for the first model, a 155 HP version, in April of this year, and it says that the first venues offering “flights” could be up and running as soon as this summer. Until then, you’ll just have to make do with the video after the break.

LEGO Digital Camera and MP3 Players?

One Word: Yes. Looks like kids don’t play with plastics blocks anymore. Therefore it seems Lego is moving on with the crowd, and offering different consumer electronics like Digital Cameras, Video Cameras, Walkie-Talkie’s and MP3 Players. Did I mention that they look like Lego’s?

Anyways, The new LEGO product are scheduled for release this summer at price points of $19.99 to $59.99, so look out at your local Best Buy Toys’R'Us.

Josh’s Verdict: I’m going get out my old LEGO set and build a camera!

What happens after the HD format war..

This Computer Shop is offering a great bargain! (Not!)

Buy 2 HD-DVD’s,
AND get the HD-DVD player for FREE! Seriously.

The 2 movies cost HK$490, which is about US$63.

That’s how you get rid of your “dead format” stock. Sell them the discs, bundle that player to play them. To be honest, that’ll be pretty much the only 2 discs their get to pay.. I don’t see anyone else selling HD-DVD’s anymore.

Zune 30GB brickification acknowledged by Microsoft

For all of you Zune 30 owners who woke up this morning to find your PMP frozen in despair at the thought of spending another year alone, Microsoft has finally acknowledged their boo-boo and explains it thusly: There is a bug in the internal clock driver causing the device to choke on the last day of a leap year. Rest assured, however — although they may not be issuing an update for the device any time soon, the issue should resolve itself whenever January 1, 2009 rolls around. So have a safe and happy New Year, and let’s hope they do something about this by 2012. Read
