Do you want to see how Cupcake works for yourself? These generic images representing the current state of the public repository branch known as Cupcake can be used in the Android emulator. Follow the steps to get it up and running.
1. Download and install the Android SDK found here.
2. Download this zip containing new latest Android images:
3. Unpack files to a temporary location.
4. Backup the folder /tools/lib/images ( is the Android SDK installation folder)
5. Replace the files ramdisk.img, system.img and userdata.img in /tools/lib/images with the files unpacked from the zip in step 3.
6. Start the emulator and wait.

1. Enter the App Store, purchase and install application 老地方冰果室 ($0.99). Search for FrostyPlace to find this application in the App Store.

Note: This application is a Trad. Chinese language RSS reader for Taiwanese Macintosh news website www.frostyplace.com.

2. Once installed, launch FrostyPlace, tap the speech bubble icon, and then tap a random post.

3. Return to the Home Screen by pressing the Home Button, then tap Settings > General > Keyboard > Japanese

How do I access Emoji?

Emoji is implemented as an additional keyboard the same way as international keyboards. Tab the globe icon on your iPhone keyboard to switch between your regular keyboard and Emoji keyboard. The Emoji keyboard is divided into categories, swipe left or right to view the additional icons. Tap on an icon to insert it into your message.

Does the recipient of my messages containing Emoji need to do anything in order to see them?

No, the recipient of your message will be able to view your Emoji without performing these steps, provided they have an iPhone with software 2.1 or later.

How does this work?

There appears to be a bug (?) in iPhone OS 2.2 triggered by the application mentioned in this article that allows the Emoji keyboard to be switched on without being on a supported Japanese carrier. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Will other mobile phones be able to see the Emoji characters?

No. They will see squares or other character in place of the Emoji.

Can I use Emoji in email?

Windows Live Hotmail aka MSN Hotmail finally is adding POP3 and SMTP support for its free user base. Previously, POP3 and SMTP access is only available to paid Windows Live Hotmail Plus subscribers. POP3 and SMTP protocols allows user to use desktop-based or mobiled-based (such as iPhone) email client to access Hotmail mailboxes without opening web browser to browse to web-based Hotmail online.
The free POP3 and SMTP access will be available to all, each and every Hotmail users eventually. However, during the initial rolling out stage, the POP3 and SMTP support on the Hotmail account will be enabled in stage by country and regional market. Windows Live blog announced that Hotmail users in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, France, Japan, Spain, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands are the first to enjoy the free POP3 and SMTP service as part of Hotmail wave 3 roll out. Good news is, all Hotmail users should have POP3 and SMTP enabled and turned on in their account by end of 2009.
To setup mail client to access Windows Live Hotmail account, use the following Hotmail POP3 and SMTP configuration settings:
Incoming Server (POP3 Server): pop3.live.com
Incoming Server POP Port: 995
Incoming Server POP SSL Encryption: Yes (On or Required)
Outgoing Server (SMTP Server): smtp.live.com
Outgoing Server SMTP Port: 25

See the above screenshots of a new YouTube service specifically aimed at being watched on TV? It’s at www.youtube.com/tv, as announced by YouTube. YouTube says the site is available for the PlayStation 3 and the Wii. When you visit it on your computer, you’re redirected to the normal homepage.
However, Ron – who took above screenshots from his computer – explains the following hack to view it anyway (HTML’ified):

  1. Install User Agent Switcher 0.6.11 for FireFox

Even with the slmgr -rearm trick, your Windows 7 Beta copy will only last 90 days. An activation key will extend your expiry date all the way to August 1, 2009. Who needs Psystar?
Apple says it’s had “pretty interesting ideas” for a Mac netbook, but it’s everyday users who’ve already taken action. Due to their similar technical underpinnings, most of the popular netbooks can run OS X, but there are plenty of caveats: non-functioning components which lack drivers and need to be replaced—or which simply can’t be gotten to at all.
Unfortunately, the Googles are choked with info, and much of it’s out of date. I’d like to maintain a one-look chart to help people figure out out if their netbook (or one they’ve got their eye on) will run it well enough to their needs.
The short answer: get an MSI Wind or Dell Mini 9. Thanks to new WiFi drivers (direct download), the Wind runs the whole show out the can.

If you’re thinking about making yourself a Hackintosh, know that it’s still not a no-brainer. For starters, standard OS X disks won’t work: you’ll need to grab a hacked version of it from the tubes. This contravenes Apple’s EULA, even if you own a legal copy. The following guides also generally require an external DVD drive and familiarity with the terminal.
