Asus announes Eee PC 1008HA

Asus showed off a new Eee PC’s at CeBit this year, in Hannover: The Eee PC 1008HA. In addition to this, Asus also showed existing/previously released Eee PC’s: The Eee PC 1000HE, Eee PC T91GO, Eee PC 900SDGO and the Eee PC 1003HGO.

The Eee PC 1008HA is meant to replace the Eee PC S101, while this netbook is 1-inch thick and weighs 2.4 pounds, with a curved, shiny plastic “shell” (ASUS calls it “pearlescent”) to give a bit more luster than the average Eee PC. More details to follow – if you follow Josh’s Blog RSS, you’ll get the latest details about the 1008HA anywhere!

Acer Aspire One 10 now in Shops (in Hong Kong)

Acer Aspire One 10 are already available in shops in Hong Kong (yay!) and Taiwan. The rest of the world will be getting this baby in Mid-February (Acer announced a February 20th launch in Japan), according to DigiTimes. Remember, the Acer Aspire One is the world’s best selling netbook (even beating Asus).
The specs lowdown:
Intel Atom 1.6GHz N270 (950GSE chipset)
1GB RAM
SDHC Card slot
x3 USB ports
Optional 3G
Josh’s Verdict: Just remember though, if you’re into performance, we suggest you get the Asus Eee PC 1000HE rather than this, as this has the latest Intel Atom processor N280 1.66GHz and the new G40 chipset, which can play 720p video. Meanwhile, Nvidia Ion can play 1080p videos. Oh wells.

Intel releases Moblin OS Alpha for netbooks

Intel made an Operating System? Oh yes, even though it’s a modified version of Linux (based on Fedora) for netbooks, specifically for installing on Intel hardware, ie., Intel Atom, as well as Core 2.

This is confirmed to work on Dell Mini’s and Acer Aspire One, but Eee’s won’t have working Wi-Fi. Remember, it’s an alpha, so it’s not final yet. Squash those bugs! Read

High Quality Acer Aspire One 10" Shots

Seriously. Are you sick of those grainy spyshots? Well, stop asking for them, you’ll got them right here!
According to SlashGear : It looks like Acer is doing a good just of scaling up the size of their portable notebook without loosing the basic concept. We can see that the trackpad buttons have made a bit of a journey to just below the pad. .  Good news though on the underside of the device as there are not three panes that can be removed to access the internals rather than the one that was previously on the Aspire One. Also the second memory card reader has been removed from this mode

As we stated previously the new 10.1-inch Acer Aspire is expected to include the standard Atom processor and anywhere up to 2GB of RAM. The screen should have the same 1024 x 600 screen resolution as seen in previous modes.  It is nice to see a larger screen without bumping the price up to a higher price range.

What’s Gangsta? SlashGear for providing these shots. You guys are awesome!

Asus’ Eee PC Touch new UI – Verdict: It’s Awesome!

Having trouble figuring out how a touchscreen Eee PC could fit into your life? No worries, ASUS just did all the heavy synaptic lifting for you with the release of a near 6-minute video showing its new Eee PC Touch UI. A UI teased at CES and built specifically for ASUS’ new touchcreen Eees. All in all it makes a pretty case for why you should pick up a new Eee PC T91 or T101H convertible tablet later this year. Let’s just hope the processor can cope.

Josh’s Verdict: Looks Awesome. I can’t wait for one to come to the shops.
