RevTwt.com: Twitter Scam or Money Maker?
| Update: I now recommend MyLikes. You can make 5 times as much per click with MyLikes, as compared to RevTwt. Read the Blog Post about MyLikes here |
Once again, there’s another Twitter Advertising Network on the interwebs. Many people think
their website looks too scammy to be true. Well, we’re going to find out.
Similar to Magpie, RevTwt advertising are placed as a tweet, which is displayed on your Twitter Profile. There are no disclaimers for the ads, so your followers may find it hard to distinguish between ads and real tweets. Unlike Magpie though, RevTwt pays per click, not per view (a.k.a. Pay-Per-Tweet). This allows the system to be more open to click fraud, like Google AdSense, although their system in place seems to be able to detect fraud pretty well, by looking at RevTwt’s Twitter profile.
Anyways, back to the experiment. In RevTwt, I entered my (test) Twitter account information and set it to automatically post an ad a day. This Twitter account has more than 22,000 followers. I was given the title of an “Elite Twitterer”, since I had over 8,000 followers (Which isn’t hard to do). Being an Elite Twitterer, I was given access to special adverts, wish paid more than the normal adverts. The highest is 20 cents a click, although the wherether the click is counted are based on a per country basis, which is different for each advert.
Simple math can show that if you tweet an advert worth 20 cents per click and get 10 clicks, you’ll get 2 dollars a day. That’s not much, but that amounts to $62 per month, or $744 a year! That $62 could cover your monthly phone bill easily, or it could even pay for a pretty nice meal.
Well here’s my verdict: RevTwt is NOT a Scam.
I’ve made a total of $71.69 from RevTwt so far, but I’m sure I could make even more if I tried even harder, e.g. placing more adverts.
Check my PayPal history below:
I’m not asking you to buy anything. Nor am I asking you to pay me for this information. But I suggest that you check out RevTwt – it’s one of those money makers that need little no work at all, except you should tweet often (hopefully you already do), and requesting payment (don’t forget to check) once you hit the $20 payment threshold. Done.
Twitter’s OAuth now in Public Beta!
Sick of malicious apps? Sick of typing in your Twitter passwords to third party apps and not even knowing what they are going to do with it? Welcome to OAuth, the token based authentication system, now available as a public beta for Twitter Apps! This was just announced (via Twitter, naturally) by Alex Payne, Twitter API’s lead.
An example of the authentication process is seen above, with TipJoy.
Josh;s Verdict: Simple, no password required. Now we’ll just have for other Apps to use this, to reduce abuse.

Topify: Manage your Twitter followers with email (100 Invites!)
Topify basically does 3 things with your Twitter account within your email, without even going on the Twitter website. If you’re the Power Twitter user, this is your serious power tool and time saver.Topify was created by two former TechCrunch France employees, Ouriel Ohayon (@ourielohayon) and Arik Framovitch (@arikfr).
1. First of all, they create better notification emails when some one follows you. The improved email is seen below:
The email now shows Following/Followers stats, their Display Image, Bio, On Twitter Since, Updates Count, their Website and their Latest Update, versus the original Twitter one, which only told you your new follower’s name and username (e.g. only @Joshlam and Josh Lam).
2. Awesome. I want to follow this guy who just followed me. Do you need to go all the way to twitter.com, sign-in, go to the guy’s profile page, and click follow? Well, with Topify, you don’t have to. All you need to do is to reply to the email. Simple, Easy and Smart. Now why didn’t Twitter think of this before?
3. How about Direct Messages?
I just followed this really cool guy on Twitter (I know, it’s @Joshlam) and he told me I was awesome
Topify makes it really easy to reply to Direct Messages. Once again, all you need to do is to reply to the Direct Message notification email.Done.
So, to conclude, Topify may be simple, but has to be a great shortcut, especially if you’re a Power Twitter user.

How to: Access Spotify from Anywhere!
Spotify is that hot new startup that everyone’s talking about. But you can only access it if you’re in the UK, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Spain and France. Not anymore!
Spotify is also currently blocking Proxies accessing its site, so even if you used a proxy to sign up, and download the program, it’ll give you 14 days to go back to a UK, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Spain or France based IP address.
Well, here’s the answer: Use a VPN (aka Vitual Pivate Network). There’s no VPN for free really (unless it’s a scam), but one the most well known VPN service, called Ivacy, is offering an EXCLUSIVE trial to Josh’s Blog readers. Click here to get your trial!
You’ll get unlimited time restrictions to use 1 GB of secured traffic with every new account. No credit card required, signup takes a couple of seconds, and you may start using Ivacy right away!
FAQ
1 GB? That’s not much?
Wrong actually! That’s a damn lot! I’ve been using Ivacy to connect Spotify to the Internet.. and I haven’t even used much yet! It still says 0.99GB remaining. And if you DO run out, Ivacy’s prices are not that expensive.. it’s 0.5 Euros per 1 GB. Not bad at all.
How do I setup?
After you signed up, go to this page (shown below): https://pr.ivacy.com/en/tools/options
Make sure you select UK as the option for your Country IP selection.

Web 2.0 Guru? Try this Quiz!

Besides the funny names and bad spellings, one hallmark of Web startups over the past few years has been the creative use of logos. Often you know a startup by its logo more than by its name, especially if it is for a Web app whose site you don’t actually visit that often. Instead, the logo appears as a favicon in your browser address window, or as an icon on another site.
How well do you know your Web 2.0 logos? Take this quiz to find out. There are 33 logos. See how many you can name.
Josh’s Verdict: Most of them are easy, but there are a few tricky ones thrown in. What did I get? 31/34. Not too bad.
